Be safe while viewing the solar eclipse today.  If you don't have specially designed, certified eclipse safety glasses, watch the eclipse on tv! Protect your eyes, you need them for art.

Welcome Back!!!

I am super excited to start the 2017-2018 School Year!! I look forward to meeting you on Thursday night and beginning the school year on Monday!

OW orders will arrive May 9 and check out the finished oil pastel projects!

Original Works orders will arrive May 9 and be available for pick up as soon as I get the box to my room. Check out the oil pastel projects students finished last week. 1,2,5,6 period students did projects inspired by Henri Rousseau's Fantasy Forests--students showed variety, overlapping, and repetition in their artworks along with warm/cool color contrast. My 4th period Art 2 students chose between the Rousseau Fantasy Forest project and a Georgie O'Keeffe inspired landscape or flower project that may or may not have included abstraction and students self-selected elements and principles of design. These look even better in person--as oil pastels often do.

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has sprung!! We have entered the home stretch. It is hard to believe that we are already in the 4th marking period. 2-6th period 1st semester students and 1st-6th period 2 semester students made an Original Works project. I sent the projects off to Original Works last week. If you are not familiar with how this works, students make the artwork. I mail it off. The Original Works company digitally scans/photographs the artwork and sends the artwork and a website +code for each student back. Then, students, families, friends, relatives, all have the chance to order cool products with each students' original artwork featured on it. Keep your eyes open!! We will get this back the first week of April! In the meantime, check out their website and plan ahead--these items make great Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthday gifts. https://www.originalworks.com/store/ This is also a fundraiser for the art room! Funds go to supplement the art budget and buy cool art materials for our students to experiment with.
