October is Bullying Prevention Month. Here are some anti-bullying sketches.

What a week!

These first 2 weeks have flown by! Art students have been super productive in the art room. 2nd and 3rd period students are finishing up their color wheels. 1st, 5th, and 6th period students will begin painting their self-portrait mask on Tuesday.

What a wonderful start to the year!

This week was a wonderful start to the 2015-2016 school year! We are all settling in to the new year routine and making art! 1st, 5th, and 6th period  will be working on a two-dimensional self-portrait mask painted with watercolor and tempera paint. 2nd and 3rd period classes are painting colorwheels with tempera paint. ALL STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE THEIR REQUIRED ART SUPPLIES ON MONDAY, AUGUST 31.

Welcome Back!!!

I am so excited to be beginning another school year at KGMS! I look forward to teaching many different art concepts, techniques, and materials to my 7th and 8th grade students. See you at the Open House!

Art Club is Doing a Canstruction!!

Art Club is working on a Canstruction (a sculpture from donated cans of food)!! We NEED CANS of food! Please send your students with non-perishable cans of food for the KGMS food drive. We will be Canstructing during lunch and after school. The deadline for completing the Canstruction is May 11. As of now, we have received no cans and can't begin canstructing.

8th graders just completed Kehinde Wiley inspired self-portraits. They did scaled drawings using a grid, shaded themselves in with pencil and painted a background using a specific color scheme. Then they took a some part of the background and made it overlap the pencil drawing so that it unified the overall design and added the principle of movement to their artwork.  These look fantastic in the photos but they are AMAZING in person.  These will be up outside the art room door on display for a few weeks.  Great job, 8th graders!
