An awesome first week!

What an awesome first week!  I am so thrilled to be working with my 7th and 8th graders.  I am impressed with your good manners and strong work ethic!  Keep up the great work.  This week 7th graders learned about the Elements of Design.  They focused on line and did blind contour drawings, contour drawings, and modified contour drawings. Today, they worked on gesture drawings, another type of observational drawing.  7th graders will begin a line drawing Monday that they will do ink washes in to add value.  8th grade students started the week reviewing the Elements of Design.  We looked at Pre-Columbian art and learned about describing and analyzing art.  Students discussed form, shape, color, line, and many other art concepts as they looked at the text book.  8th graders will begin a clay project on Monday. Parents, ask your children about what they did in art.  Have them explain what these types of drawings are and which were their favorites.  Students, tell your parents about what you are working on in art.  Impress them with your art vocabulary.
